Live Directed Sessions
Not only are directed sessions more fun, they give you more control over the final result. When you direct in real-time, it saves me from guessing what you want. Live sessions also save time by eliminating the need for back and forth emails to adjust a performance.

How do live remote sessions work?
Any method that allows us to hear each other in real-time can be used. Phone, Zoom, Messenger, Whatsapp, Hangouts. It is also possible (and pretty easy!) to conduct sessions in high definition audio - so what you hear during the session matches more closely the sound of the actual recording.

There are a number of tools that do this, the one I am currently using is Source Connect Now (SCN). You just need to click this link in a Chrome browser, and wear some earphones that have a built-in microphone. Old-fashioned wired ones work best (wireless do work too, however they seem to be less consistent). The other advantage of SCN is more than one person can listen in. You don't need to sign up or pay.

For remote recording studios I have Source Connect Standard under 'jenmaryvo'. This allows the audio from my microphone to feed directly into a sound engineer's software program.
